I have over four hundred songs on my Christmas Mix this year.
The genres range from rock to country to reggae.
It is a collection of random Christmas music pulled from various CDs, LPs and Cassettes.
Here are some random thoughts concerning the mix…
Christmas in Hollis by Run DMC is the greatest Christmas song written and recorded in the past twenty years. Hands down. Don’t question it.
Blue Christmas by Elvis Presley is the worst Christmas song recorded in the past six decades. And that list includes Christmas Wrapping by The Spice Girls and The Last Christmas by Wham!
I’m not sure how it ended up on the mix, because it really has nothing to do with Christmas, but Never Do The Tango With An Eskimo by Alma Cogan is the most racially-insensitive song on the mix. It’s all about how you should never do a tango with an Eskimo, because they are so cold, you’ll freeze to death. Hilarious.
O Holy Night is the song recorded the most often on the mix. Which is kind of weird, because it’s one of the most musically difficult Christmas songs ever composed, in terms of vocals.
I use their respective Christmas songs as a good gauge to test who was the better Beatle, John or Paul. And, frankly, Happy Xmas (War is Over) is heads and tails above Wonderful Christmastime. Still not as awesome as Christmas in Hollis, though.
That is all.
